California Drivers Ed

Monday, December 17th, 2007

One thing that should make all parents happy is that a new rule has been established allowing teens to take driver education online in California. It doesn´t matter if you live in a big city like Los Angeles or Sacramento, or if you reside in a small cow town like Auburn, this same rule applies all across the state to California residents. The great thing about taking driver education online is that it enables you to enjoy a boat load of benefits.

The law says that you must be at least fifteen and a half years old to apply for a learner´s permit to drive. In order for you to obtain this permit, you must first complete the first portion of the California drivers ed curriculum. The best thing to do is enroll in a state approved California driver education course when you first turn fifteen. By the time the teen turns fifteen and a half, they should have the first section of the program completed. The driver education course first starts off with a six hour tutorial about crucial information about the rules of the road, California specific driving laws, and general driving safety tips. Once you complete this section, you can then apply for a learner´s permit at age fifteen and a half.

There are great advantages of doing this for both the teen and the parent. The teen can work at their own pace while the parent can help out. The teenager can also work whenever they have free time and the helpful parent can watch over and make sure that all the work is being properly assessed and being done in a timely manner. Basically the parent has control over the teen and can allow their child to start driving when they feel completely sure they are ready to get behind the wheel.

Texas Drivers Ed

Monday, December 17th, 2007

In the state of Texas, there are a few different choices you can make regarding driver education. One option is the parent taught Texas drivers ed course, which is called course 101. This sounds like a good decision but taking this action involves a lengthy printout for the parents to go over with their teen. This packet leaves many parents questioning why they chose this road in the first place. A great alternative to this form of driver education, is taking the course online. This online course, also referred to as course #107, has been approved by the Texas Department of Public Safety(DPS).

This driver education course can either be taken online or with a three disk set on your computer. A great advantage of doing this course this way allows teens to work at their own pace in the comforts of their own home. This way they can have a better chance of fully understanding all the information of each subject. Every teen must complete this course if they wan to receive their license before the age of eighteen in the state of Texas. In addition, those kids who live in rural areas of the state, the online method of this course is a great solution to driving miles to attend a school that offers this course.

If this sounds like a good idea to you and your child, here is the steps involved. First when the teen turns fifteen, they can apply for the learner´s permit by mailing in a form that states they will be taking a parent taught driver education course. Then you can enroll in the online course and complete the first six hours of the class. Then you will have to pass a vision test and a written exam before you can actually obtain your learner´s permit. Once you have the learner´s permit, you must complete the rest of the online course as well as drive a minimum amount of hours behind the wheel with your parent or guardian. After you have completed all this and have had your permit for six months, you can then try and get your driver´s license. For more information, log onto the Texas Driver Education website.

Docx Files Explained

Monday, December 17th, 2007

A friend of mine send me a docx document and I had some troubles opening that file. I asked him how he created that file and he told me that it was created in the newest version of Microsoft Office.

My version is a little bit older, obviously to old to display docx files. A quick search on Google brought up an article that explained how to open docx files.

Microsoft released a compatibility pack that I had to install which would add docx support to my version of Microsoft Office. After installing that compatibility pack I was able to open docx documents without difficulties at all.
