Estethic surgery has found a wide use in the US. Anyhow it is interesting to watch the development in other countries. In Germany for example, it is called kosmetische Operation, or shortly Schönheitsoperation. It defined as “ein chirurgischer Eingriff ohne medizinische Notwendigkeit. Eine Schönheitsoperation soll nur der Verschönerung des menschlichen Körpers dienen.” The contained treatments (e.g. “Bruststraffung oder Brustvergößerung, Fettabsaugung, Fettabsaugen und Faltenbehandlung sowie die Haartransplantation”) are similar. Anyhow in Germany the plastic surgery ( Plastische Chirurgie) is still much more important in connection with diseases or accidents to restore a natural appearance.
